We have an opening on our Infrastructure Team for a strong, self-driven Network Engineer who is detail oriented and has an in-depth knowledge and solid technical skills and experience with a variety of network protocols, software and hardware in LAN and WAN operations.   As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on operation and support in keeping our networking systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues.

As a Sr. Network Engineer, your job will be to ensure Newgistics network is fast, available, scalable and engineered to withstand unparalleled demand. You will be working in the team that combines network engineering, operations, system administration, and tools/automation development to design, implement and operate Newgistics global networks.


  • Work with other team members and groups to develop scalable network designs, solutions and policy recommendations to support the continued growth of Newgistics enterprise IP networks
  • Install and configure new network and telecommunications systems hardware and software
  • Perform network and system performance analysis and tuning optimizations
  • Promptly respond to platform, application and data processing problems, and network issues in local and remote locations on a 24x7 basis
  • Design computing platform hardware, operating systems and network infrastructure standards to meet application availability and performance requirements
  • Design and deploy monitoring and utility programs to monitor networking systems availability and performance
  • Achieve functional expertise with computing systems in use at Newgistics
  • Create and maintain network and telecommunications systems diagrams and configuration documentation
  • Provide assistance in all aspects of network management from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks
  • Monitor network and telecommunications system performance and respond to anomalies and issues according to documented procedures
  • Analyze network and telecommunications system logs, identify potential issues, and initiate corrective actions per documented methods and procedures
  • Analyze network characteristics (e.g. traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes and throughput), troubleshoots problems and recommends procurement of and/or modifications to network components
  • Perform network system backups per documented methods and procedures


  • Experience with Cisco networking hardware and software
  • Experience in network routing protocol troubleshooting in BGP, OSPF, and MPLS
  • Experience with scripting skills in bash, Perl, and PowerShell beneficial
  • Conduct network and telecommunications system incident and problem investigation and diagnostics
  • Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
  • Technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, ARP, ACLs, routing)
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting with Wireshark
  • Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of responsibility, urgency and drive
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to learn new products and technologies quickly
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently to solve problems under pressure
  • Demonstrated Practical Knowledge And Experience With Server, Desktop, LAN, And WAN Technologies.  Should have Skill Sets in many of the following
    • Firewall:  Cisco ASA and IOS Firewall
    • Cisco iWAN Solution including DMVPN, PfRv3, and WAAS Technologies
    • Directory Services:  Active Directory,  LDAP
    • Other Server Technologies; Terminal Services, Remote Desktop Services
    • Core Network Services: DNS, DHCP, Cisco AnyConnect, Terminal Services
    • Desktop Operating Systems:  Windows,  Linux,  Macintosh (Optional)
    • Mobile Systems;  Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows
    • Communications:  TCP/ IP, VPN/SSL-VPN, LAN and WAN, HTTP(S), EDI



  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5+ year’s network or systems administration experience or equivalent practical experience
  • Professional Cisco Certification is a plus 
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment
