  • Overview

    This position is responsible for supporting the operation through leadership of a group of 10 – 15 staff insuring the duties and responsiblities on either the reverse or delivery side of the operation are enforced. Indviduals are typically cross trained in general material handling, pallet and sack pulling and loading, line feeding, RF scanning,or induction scanning. Responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines.


    General Material Handling:

    • Prepares new gaylords for replacement on the line
    • Inspect loaded pallets before pulling from the line
    • Pulls and replaces gaylords
    • Closes full pallets as directed
    • Stages pallets for shipping
    • Prepares for material handling area set up


    Pallet and Sack Loading :

    • Utilizes brick stack method for maximizing gaylord density
    • Arranges pallets to best utilize package flow on conveyor
    • Remains within pallet building area during run of operation
    • Utilizes appropriate pallet for each particular customer
    • Follows process to ensure a proper pallet building process
    • Utilizes RF scanner to scan the pallet ID, scan parcels, place packages into containers
    • Handles and loads parcel sacks using the proper methods

    Line Feeding:

    • Positions pallet appropriately, cuts stretch film or opens postal sacks or bags to free freight
    • Stack packages on feed conveyor with labels facing up or forward
    • Ensure packages have a continual flow
    • Set aside any opened, damaged, or empty packages and inform supervisor
    • Advise when load is completed
    • Move and emply pallets
    • Maintains a quality environment by ensuring proper freight seperation

    Induction scanning:

    • Select package off feed convenyor and scan package using specific scanning guidelines to ensure an efficient scanning speed
    • Measure package to determine if any additional postage necessary
    • Determine if Priority, Balloon, NMF, or Oversize and flag correctly in system
    • Ensure scan corresponds with mail class being processed
    • Identify any opened, empty or damaged packages and advise supervisor
    • After scanning, move package to correct place based on route code
    • Scan at or above minimum standards



    • Communicates with local associates, corporate contacts, customers, and vendors to accomplish facility operational goals and objectives.
    • Sets schedules (including breaks & lunches), sets and manages daily staffing levels, coordinates labor
    • Manages performance expectations, provides ongoing, supports a positive and safe work environment
    • Understands, coaches and supports company procedures, policy, rules, processes, tools, and standards (“SOPs”), ensures training requirements are met.
    • Communicates daily about facility, corporate, and other pertinent information to various teams and individuals, in various meeting formats (pre-sort, one-on-one, written, etc.).
    • Performs and participates in additional facility duties in support of the operation.

    No – Lead team functions under direct Supervisor (15 – 20 people)



    • Experience of 1 – 2 years in warehouse/parcel operations as a team leader
    • Knowledge of postal rules and regulations a plus but not required
    • Knowledge/ability to operate and troubleshoot PC and handheld based software
    • Ability to direct, coach, train, and communicate to a small group of frontline workers
    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Basic ability to use applications in MS Office.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience in data gathering and analysis, identifying trends/gaps, building action plans, driving successful execution, and sustaining productivity through effective management.
    • High degree of initiative, solid time management and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to move and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be able to work variable shifts, long hours, including weekends and holidays.
    • Technically abled or ability to learn navigation of all corporate systems and tools (software, induct station, RF scanner, forklift, etc.) used in support of Newgistics operations.


    Essential Functions:

    •  Ability to adhere to all proper safety guidelines
    • Ability to utilize safe lifting techniques
    • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
    • Ability to see, hear, read, walk, bend, twist, stand, and reach for an entire scheduled shift
    • Ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as required
