  • Overview

    The Operations Supervisor is responsible for all day-to-day functions related to delivery and returns parcel processing. The Operations Supervisor will directly manage an hourly workforce with assistance from the operations and supervisory staffs. The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Facility Manager. Functions include but not limited to; staff management, daily operations planning, sort configuration optimization, operational metric reporting, and liaison between operation and Newgistics transportation and USPS departments.


    • Communicates with local associates, corporate contacts, customers, and vendors to accomplish facility operational goals and objectives.
    • Sets schedules (including breaks & lunches), sets and manages daily staffing levels, coordinates labor, audits and approves time cards through all appropriate company systems and processes.
    • Sets and manages performance expectations, provides ongoing feedback and reviews, resolves team conflicts, supports a positive and safe work environment, uses proactive and reactive coaching, and administers discipline for underperformance; up to and including performance improvement plans and terminations.
    • Understands, coaches and supports company procedures, policy, rules, processes, tools, and standards (“SOPs”), ensures training requirements are met.
    • Communicates daily about facility, corporate, and other pertinent information to various teams and individuals, in various meeting formats (pre-sort, one-on-one, written, etc.).
    • Maintains facility supply inventory in support of SmartCenter operations.
    • Performs and participates in additional facility duties in support of the operation.

    • 3-to-5 years of leadership experience in a transportation/distribution/warehouse environment is preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Basic ability to use applications in MS Office.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience in data gathering and analysis, identifying trends/gaps, building action plans, driving successful execution, and sustaining productivity through effective management.
    • High degree of initiative, solid time management and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to move and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be able to work variable shifts, long hours, including weekends and holidays.
    • Technically abled or ability to learn navigation of all corporate systems and tools (software, induct station, RF scanner, forklift, etc.) used in support of Newgistics operations.
